The more I see this image, the more I like it. Viewed larger, I just love

the muted browns/creams throughout. Still working through the A700

and having fun......... your thoughts here would be welcomed.

Best regards

Wow Grayham, that's a beauty!!  What a stunning bird in a great pose!  And you got it with a wonderful background and on a very nice perch.  I understand these don't hold still for very long, so I am amazed you were to get this shot before he disappeared.  Best regards my friend!!

Hi Grayham

This is beautiful! I love the lighting, comp and the softness of the bird's feathers.

So, how did you get it to strike the perfect pose? LOL

Thanks for your visit and kind comments. With a shot like this one, it was just a case of "as many FPS as I could get" before it took off.

Birds wait for no man, as we know.

I think my enjoyment of "birding" encompasses many aspects..... the anticipation of the spotting.... the speed of movement.... mixed in with all the other variables of lighting/colour/habitat/DoF..... and so on. Nothing is cut and dried.... it all unfolds as you shoot and in most cases, very quickly.  The secret to a successful capture could be the TTL recognition of what one has captured and to capitalise on that one specific moment.... does that make sense?

Hope that answers your question (in a way).

Thanks for your huge WOW.... it is appreciated (more than you know).

Hi Grayham

What a lovely capture. The contrast between bird and soft background is very nice indeed. This little Honeyeater looks as if he is posing just for you.

Well done.

Kind regards Louise

Beautiful nature capture. Excellent composition and nice clean background. A bit of over exposure on the tree trunk distracts from the main subject but overall it is still a great shot. Congrats.

Thanks for your visit and very sound comments. Yes, the over-exposure was a bit of the compromise in terms of the lighting conditions that prevailed. If I was more proficient in PP, I suppose I could fix it (smiles). Nevertheless, I was quite happy with the overall result here.

Best regards
