Please view large. I am interested in your comments on this image in

comparison to the other Snoqualmie Falls image right next to this one.

Which is more appealing the full view or the close up? What do you think

of the texture of each image and the softness that I added? Thanks for

your input. I value it. Larry

I like the larger context -- I get a fuller appreciation for the nature of the falls.  Have you ever hiked down to the base to get a lower-river view of the falls?

As an aside, I was staying at the lodge one evening when I saw a deer swimming downriver toward the falls.  Just as it was about to get pulled into one of the chutes, it clamored up onto one of the small rock "islands" between the chutes.  There seemed to be no way for it to escape.  By morning, it was gone, probably swept over the falls (not an uncommon occurrence).

I, too, prefer the full height version because it better exemplifies the majesty of this fall.  I hope you don't mind, but I've adjusted the light levels a tad with Capture NX2.  The original seems a little flat, perhaps because of the cameras attempt to deal with the bright water, or perhaps it was a really overcast day.  My apologies if it changes your intent but it's just another view of this magnificent waterfall... Mike

Edit:  After posting I note that I've blown a few spots of highlight, so please just take this as a very quick example.

I assume you mean this one by the full height version.  I like it better too.  No, I've never been to the bottom.  The two times I went there were both driving through on short stops - don't think I knew one could hike down.  Actually, from the top it's not that impressive - too touristy feeling.  I took this one with my Lumix LX5 point and shoot.  I was on a business trip and didn't want the extra load of my camera gear and tripod.

Mike, thanks for attaching the adjusted light.  I actually had it your way and lowered the highlights before putting it on PN.  I agree with you.  I'll put it back as it was.   Thanks to you both.  Larry
