this shot (and place) brings back wonderful memories for me Pnina. A magical place where I spent some time in my younger years. Thanks for the reminder and a wonderful capture as well:)

The only news we hear of Greece in the States is of austerity and outrage.  These pics are a wonderful reminder that life goes on and that these struggles are temporary and that beauty remains in the world.

I live the shadows and sun, as well as the building tucked away in the crook of the rocks.

It was an unusual experience to see the monasteries so high on the rocks and getting a part of the history from our Greek  friends. Unbelievable to see what  the human spirit could do and express so many centuries before!

Jeff, I wish the Greek nation to overcome the difficulties, The country and people deserve it as the Greeks  donated so much to the world, and the beauty and knowledge rest  ! nowadays as well .

Lovely subdued, natural colors. I appreciate the light & shadow details visible here...& especially of the rocks -- Those tiny trees on top are a nice detail too; they stand out nicely against the sky (especially when seen enlarged)

Pretty colors and light.  Who did the actual building?  I wonder if the monks have vows of silence in this remote dwelling.  Remarkable opportunity you had here, Pnina.  Quite thrilling when taking into account the scope and the soul it takes to build and live there

Thanks both of you for your impressions.I know the details just reading them in the internet .My Greek friends talked with some of them, but the real histor in details is there,it is unbelievable what the human spirit could  do, with no computers and technical means...

Pnina, I thoroughly enjoyed  all the images of your  trip to Greece. I agree with you about the triumph of human spirit those days at such a difficult terrain. I have seen such monasteries in The Himalayas, constructed thousand years ago.The monastery blends well with Nature. Light on this wonderland is fascinating.
