I never tire of seeing programs about these Penguins, Birte. They have such a sense of 'family', and brave the harshest of weather for their mates and young ones. Lovely capture, I especially love their 'posture' when showing affection. Great capture, an excellent addtion to your book.

Hi Birte, What a wonderful composition, from lower right corner to upper left mountain. As I said a long time ago you're a very lucky lady to be able to go to all these fantastic places, and we are lucky to see these great shots. Thanks for sharing this. Take care.

BR,

Holger

A sight to behold!!!  A fantastic shot.....what a thrill it must have been to see this in person.  Anyway you cut this it's a great shot, but the taller penguin in the front R anchors this and provides a wonderful balance.

Birte: it has been too long since I have stopped by your incredible images of places that many us may not get an opportunity to visit but we can partake due to your generosity of sharing.

I remember seeing a documentary of how they sacrificially take care of a single egg in minus 50 degree temperature while one partner ventures miles and miles  away to obtain food for a long period. If the feeding partner does not return then it is sure death for the spouse and the egg. Such love and caring can tug at my emotional strings.

In this image, the couple at the bottom right evoked the memory of that documentary film called "March of the Penguins". The introduction to the aforementioned film states: "Experience a journey like no other on the planet—one that spans hundreds of miles across a frozen continent. Braving icy winds, freezing temperatures and starvation, this is the incredible true story of a family's quest to bring new life into the world".

All the very best and keep up the very fine work you are doing.
