Joerg,

This is a 'constructed' photo, not just some sort of capture from walking by.  Nevertheless, it's entirely candid.  I moved; they were unaware.

Whatever the gentleman is seriously sharing with the nice lady has her totally amused.Either she thinks the measure he is proclaiming is exagerated or she wishes to be convinced otherwise. In any case, one gets the feeling that if these are not friends, they are no stranger to each other and that there is some enjoyment to this street encounter.Still would have been fun to know what was being said...or maybe the mystery of it all is what makes this so captivating.Bravo for another excellent image!

It was helpful to me that they were friends of a sort and engaged in an extended conversation, so I zoomed as far as I could, walked backward a little and started framing as they wandered back and forth, wandering myself so I could get them and the background arranged just like this.  For me this photo was about composition, then gestures.  I wanted 'fours' seen in their bodies and the telephones (background) as well as the windows (did you miss the four windows?)

From a number of photos, however, there was just one framed 'just so', and this is it.  I was not so interested in their expressions; other photos had them more animated, and I suppose a good 'look' on her face would have made for a better photo, or an even better gesture by him.  That's what makes for the 'great' photos, but this one did the trick at least a little.

This photo has proved unexpectedly well received for such a trifle; a good testament to my patience in constructing this composition, which I had thought was for naught.

Thank you for words of encouragement; they'll be subliminally encouraging me next time I wonder if I'm wasting time when I 'follow my nose' while shooting, and it's become little time consuming for a non-stellar subject and I'm wondering whether I'm wasting my time.  Sometimes things do pay off when taken 'just for fun' and experimentally.  People, (like you) do get it.

Best to you as well.
