Looking through the "thumbnails" in the Critique Forum, among the "small images" this one stands out. It is different. With the larger view, the interesting aspect prevails. It catches the eye, and I do not understand why you do not have more comments. It is therefore "interesting" to understand the "common wisdom" and the tastes of a larger audience. I like that this is a learning experience for me..... and maybe for you too, to wonder about the lack of comments. Why? What is it that is not appealing or worthy of even a small comment? Go figure....

This is just marvelously abstract, and more interesting than conventional treatments of similar subjects.  I especially like how the waves of the ocean are mimicked in the shape of the dark rocks - it looks like a breaking wave.  The blurriness makes visual the sound and energy of the surf.  The scene reminds me of the line from Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" - 'you are only coming through in waves'.

Compositionally, technically, and emotionally, it is a good image.  I don't know why others have rated it rather low.

I agree with you both.  I find it so frustrating that I do not get more comments/critiques on my images.  They can be so much more helpful than ratings, especially since my main goal is to get better.  Comfortable Numb, one of my favorite songs and very nice comparison to this image.  Dominic, your work is truly impressive.  Your compositions are top-notch, your exposure are great, and your presentations really bring out the best in your image.  Congrats and keep up the stellar work.

Revisiting some of the photographs I've rated I see the average score on this shot and realize that not all people get art!  Not to put anyone down it's just that this piece has all the elements; great composition, texture, movement, great tonality, and room for plenty of "interpretations".  Thanks again for sharing your art.
