Since putting so much time into my own website I have not been adding any work to photo.net.  But I come here frequently for inspiration.  There is so much talent out there to be recognized.  Ron, with that said I would like to be a bit more specific.  This image is a real winner in my mind.  The way the motion is expressed is about as good as it gets.  Very nicely captured and processed.

Well Ron I'm gonna have to go against the grain on this one. It's obvious that the original image is well executed. The hawk is well lit, nicely in focus, and captured in a great pose. I'm guessing the fast shutter that you needed to freeze the bird in motion left you with a distracting background. So you added the motion blurred background. The problem for me is that the effect isn't realistic enough. I can't quite say what I would prefer, the original image or an image where the motion blur was done so well that it looked believable. I don't want to be overly critical as I'll probably never get such a stunning capture of a bird in flight as this. But the motion blur is too perfect for me, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Great capture but the motion blur looks very fake, done in Photoshop. There's no way this panning blur occurred at 1/6,400th, and it wouldn't look like this in any case. I think nature photographs are better kept natural. Let nature be enough on its own merits.
