Solitude

Hey, Amigo, how goes life?  I hope you and yours are doing well.  I like this--simple, but effective, and the color balance is spot-on.  I wonder if there's another image here?  What a bout a square crop--taking some off of the right side, and maybe a skosh off of the left--the key, at least to me, is to preserve, in totality, that large circular green bright blob just above the flower.  I boxed it out with a couple of pieces of paper and it looked pretty cool, with the flower stem coming out of the lower left corner, so to speak.  The background really gives the overall image some punch.  Nicely seen, Tim.  Stay in touch, my friend.  I'll drop by soon and visit you on FB too.  Cheers!  Chris

It's been a long time. Things are good and I hope they are for you as well.

I was forced to the square frame you suggest when I uploaded this to instagram. It does work for me either way. I guess I like the more informal feel of the flower being off center. I agree about the background. It couldn't have worked out much better.  Trying to keep the flower in focus was the real challenge. It must have heard music because it just wouldn't stop dancing. ;-)

The flower itself is also very nice with the small DOF you used. The colors work well together.

Thank you Doug! I've used my wide lens so much in the past, I figured I work some with a longer lens and a shallow DOF to get more shots like this. I happy with the results. Thanks for taking the time!
