This is a great idea, but I think it would be a stronger image if the depth of field were adjusted and there were more tonality.  If your center of focus if the grave in front, then the ones in the read, especially on the right edge could be toned down.

Thank you for your suggestions.

1. DOF: I assume you mean a more narrow DOF -looking at your penchant for that DOF

2. Tonality: It is just not their. Most everything -excluding background- is in the middle zone range....a real boring monotone monotone, hence photo is better in color. If taken near dusk, the image would be softer.

3. Background: I generally avoid shotting into a sunlite background. I generally do not shoot in direct sunlite period. In this shot I burned the background to soften it as best I could.

 

I shot photos here 20 years ago under better lighting conditions and not been back since -I live in Israel. At that time the stone incriptions were more readable (19th century graves); the tree in the background was not as large and this stone was not toppled.
