Ross:  Interesting pciture.  I like the silver glow of the clouds which balances the outhouse.  I think the HDR or lessened contrast is a little overdone, but I like the picture regardless.  Nice shot.  Alan

I really like the subject/composition, but the processing is a bit too much for my individual tastes and detracts more than adds to the scene, IMO.

Hi Ross,  I agree with everyone else's remarks.  You had a good eye in visualizing this scene.  It's the sky that has me agreeing with Stephen about this being over "cooked."   There's an interesting tutorial on PN by Davis about HDR processing.  Since viewing it, I follow his advise and adjust my HDR images manually.  I think the message would be enhanced with "normal" looking clouds.  Thanks for posting this, Ross.  Larry

Apurva, Alan, Stephen, & Larry-Well, In guess you gentlemen have caught me with my pants down,& I must agree the image is slightly over saturated, OK , OK, it is definitely over saturated by a wide margin & I thank you all for pointing this out before I start over saturating other images.I revised the image & have no idea how to post it on this page.I would appreciate you visiting my home page & opening The Church & Outhouses & express your opinions on the revision.I believe it to be an accurate rendition of the Prairies in late August. Best Regards-Ross. PS despite my levity, I really do appreciate your interest in my work & taking the time to give an honest critique. PPS- Have received a number of critiques assuming I do HDR processing,I know absolutely nothing about HDR

I really like this. I agree with the comments on excellant angles and composition. Normally I don't care for excessive saturation. However I think it has the effect here of making the picture feel more like a painting. Can't beleive this is not HDR. I will have to take a look at you other rendition.

I've commented on another version (there are several!), and Ross has addressed the very bright sky in the upper right corner, and the vivid gold of the grasses has been toned down a bit, resulting (IMO) in a better overall image.  One reason why this may appear as an HDR to so many people are the unique clouds Ross encountered.  I think they are prone to have an HDR feel to them, especially with the tonal range they have.  Ross found a good location and made the most of it.
