Much of Nebraska site on top of the vast Ogallala Aquifer which farmers tap

into in the drier (central and western) regions of Nebraska. Indications are

that the water levels in the aquifer are steadily falling. Since much of the

corn is now used for ethanol rather than food, the question arises as to

whether or not it is a wise use of increasingly scarce water.
