neal_strand 0 Posted July 27, 2003 nice exposure. one thing I noticed was when I looked at it for a while the composition seemed divided. Maybe try starting the composition (the furhtest left rail) more to the left side of the frame. Maybe not? Link to comment
darby 0 Posted July 27, 2003 Might try cropping shot so the center rail is in the bottom left third of the frame instead of almost center. A lower vantage point with a lot of DOF (cross in tracks, upperthird/center frame) might really make this nice. My2 cents worth. Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted July 29, 2003 I've often thought that railways should be a good subject for photography though I haven't explored it yet. This shot is enjoyable on 3 levels: the gritty texture of the ironwork, sleepers & gravel, brought out by the excellent B&W print, the elegant sweeping curves at a larger scale, and the symbolism of life's pathways - often seeming to be pre-determined but with moments of profound choice leading to very different destinations. Landrum Kelly 64 Posted March 4, 2005 Ken, if you don't mind, I think I'll steal this idea and see if I can't replicate it down here. Link to comment
