jane_gibbons_eyre 0 Posted July 28, 2003 I like the idea/composition, but in this case it doesn't really work for me. I can't figure out exactly what he's doing, so it bothers me as it only tells part of the story. I normally wouldn't mind that you can't see his head, but in this case I'd like to see his face as it would help tell the story. I do like the lighting and exposure. You've used the black & white well. Link to comment
rodillagrande 0 Posted July 29, 2003 I dont feel a need to see the face. I like the way the focus is placed on the hands. But I'm not sure if they are very sharp, it could just be the scan and my monitor combining. And perhaps to be very picky the detail in the left hand cuff is a bit burnt out. Link to comment

ciofalo 0 Posted August 31, 2003 The intention was good, but I am afraid that the photo is not very effective. The hands are obviously the subject, and in similar pictures I don't think the face is needed (that would be quite a different photo); but they are not very sharp, they occupy a relatively small fraction of the picture, and it is true that the action performed (if any) is not clear. They are an old man's hands, and as such they are always interesting - but it would have been better if they had been shown either completely at rest, or performing something understandable.
