...... sheds a beautiful light across the African bush, bringing out the richness of colour.

So mesmorised by the elephant bathing in the waterhole (to the right), that we failed to notice these prehistoric beasts ease up into "waiting mode", to go for a wallow in the mud.

The elephant moved on, but these guys were in no hurry and their patience "out-weighed" ours......... we eventually moved on.

Hi Grayham, great shot of these rhino's waiting their turn. The colours are exactly as I remember them in the Pilansberg. Makes for great memories. Kind regards

When I read the subject title I thought it was going to be a self portrait : - )

But really, all joking aside I get the impression you have really captured the essence of the terrain, the colours and textures look wonderful. The Rhino's lined up nicely for you too. If I was going to do anything different I'd maybe crop it very slightly vertical on the left, just to de-centralise them slightly.  But in all honesty I had to look very hard to find any kind of suggestion for improvement.

Very well done Grayham!

Best Regards

Ha... the same thought crossed the minds of others but the Ranger wouldn't let me out of the truck (smiles).

The colours of the African bush are gorgeous, especially in Winter. The Summer rains were just a few weeks away and then it would all change, to a different kaleidoscope of colours.

Your "crop" comment is interesting, cos I gave it some thought, but didn't want to lose any of the colourful spectacle.... and naughtily ignored the Rule of Thirds (smiles).

Thanks for your visit and kind comments Alf. Always appreciated.

Best regards

Sometimes rules are best ignored!

This is a great photo as it is, and I wouldn't want to lose any of it either :- )

Cheers!

Hi Grayham,

I really enjoy seeing theses rhinos in such a beautiful natural setting.  My only opportunity is at the local zoo!  They stand out well against the dried grasses, and the color of the earth in the foreground is just fantastic!  Lots of detail throughout and a little sky for reference.  Congratulations on a fine shot!
