What child, or adult for that matter, at some point in their lives, has

not wished to, or dreamt of FLYING ? Superman comes to mind

among the Super Heroes, mainly because most of us have seen him

change on the 'Silver Screen' and in Comic Books. There are others

now, probably too many to name that exist for 'children of all ages'

today. I still recall as a young toddler, when my Dad first was able to

buy us a Television Set. I don't recall much of the programming, but I

do recall that when I grew up, I wanted to marry 'MIGHTY

MOUSE' !!! Cartoons sure have changed since the early days of

Innocence and Imagination. I have dreamt that I could Fly. I have

read and had many discussions with others that it is said that if you

are 'flying' in your dreams, and you fall to Earth, and you 'die', that

you really will 'die'. What I don't understand is, who has lived to tell

others that this is what will really happen? (your visits are always

interesting and welcome, sincere regards, Gail)

I like this ! The position of the two heads and eye contact makes an excellent composition . The colours all work well with the portraits and the zoom effect binds it all together ! Well done ! Bill

thankyou!! Bill. Worked awhile on this one. I didn't want to go too overboard on it, yet I wanted to have the feeling of motion. (you are a great inspiration for any compositoin that involves a Portrait). Many thanks for those kind and encouraging words!

The effect is perfect, I got the feeling of speed and wind passing by and freedom and joy. The expression on the girl's face is really enjoyment and the colors are soft and warm. Cool processed photo!

thankyou Ulla, that is the feeling I was trying to get across. This is my Daughter Shauna and her daughter Shaelyn. I'm glad you liked this composition. It was a bit of challenge to do, but fun to accomplish. Many thanks for your visit dear Ulla.

I'm glad you like it Jamie. It made me think of when Superman picks up Lois Lane, and they are rushing at the screen 'head on'. This does not convey the feeling of 'speed' quite as well as that, but it was fun trying. many thanks for dropping by!

The dream of flying!

In Hellenic Mythology we have the story of Icarus.  Icarus was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus.  He became famous for his attempt to escape from the island of Crete using wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax.

Icarus ignored the instructions not to fly too close to the sun, and the melting wax caused him to fall into the sea where he drowned.  But he managed to fly...

So did Phaethon with the chariot of Sun that his father Helios gave him to drive it for a day.  He flew over earth before Zeus struck him down with a lightning bolt, since Phaethon could not control the fierce horses and handle the hot chariot thus destroying the Earth.

The dream of flying, one of the most ancient and most desirable dreams ever...

So why not mama, why can't we fly?...all it takes is to dream about it!

Very Good work Gail!

I like what you ended up with and I imagine I'd like the original too. Your granddaughter's headband ties into the image and I like the rotated view of both of their faces. The strong red/yellow color palette works well. Nice job again.

Wonderful image Gail! Really like the proximity of the faces, the intensity of their gazes and the overall very warm color effect. And yes, with your special treatment I can sense the motion, like they are flying together right towards the viewer.

Thankyou Chuck for sharing your observations on this composition. I was editing it as a normal Portrait, but then began to see where the image could be used for the 'sense of motion'. So good to hear your positive remarks Chuck.

I am glad your dreams of 'flying' have all been pleasant. It is a rather 'freeing' experience, and in our dreams, experiences and colours are much more vivid. No distractions! Thankyou for sharing your experiences with us Radu, and also for your visit!!!
