nice shot!  A couple of things that I would do differently ( all personal-choice ) crop a bit  of the bottom, so she shows only form waist-up, I think the extra length is unnecessary.  On that right eye - either show some iris or cover it with hair... the white-eye look is disturbing :)Thanks for sharing!  -chris

Thanks Chris. , I agree with your point re: the eye , it is a bit disturbing . I don't agree with you about the crop , it would place her hands too near the bottom of the image . Thanks for your input . Bill

It looks like youhad some visitors!!! Mom has got her shape back already!!!! looking beautiful as ever, perhaps a wee bit tired, but that is to be expected.  Very nice capture Bill. And the one of the two of them, well, too sweet, Baby Chloe is so beautiful! I bet a year ago, you never imagined a little beauty like this would have captured your heart by this time this year!!! I imagine Great Granma just loves to see her!!! She is so much like Mom, even her colour of hair!

This is an image of endearing love and patience recording the great relationship you two have with each other.  Sometimes the need to “get ‘er done” is more important than fussing with artistic concerns.  This image will serve as a memory trigger for you so it is not critical what others think.  On the critique side, I am wondering about how you metered your main and fill lights.  Most portrait light is a 3-1 ratio.  For example, the fill light is set first to f5.6, then the main light is gradually raised until both lights together read f11.  It looks like you metered your main light first and then turned on the fill light.  When the fill was added to the main, the main light became overexpose for her face and chest.  The fill light on the shadow side of her face looks fine.  Her face was turned towards the camera so, even though you had flat lighting, her face has nice modeling.  The flat light was less kind to her chest since there is no detail there. You can cheat a bit in photoshop to give the illusion that the same modeling on her face happened on her chest by using the dodge and burn tools to create highlight and shadow on her chest that would match the position and direction of the main light.  I am uploading my preference for your image.  Good luck, take care, and happy shooting.

Baby Chloe needs her face lightened in my opinion.  I am uploading my lighter version, including the marching ants, to show you how I used a 10 pixel feather on the lasso tool to quickly do a sloppy selection around the area I wanted lightened, then lightened in curves.  This adjustment takes about 30 seconds to do.  You have a good level on your background--in the 240's RGB.  Many photographers overexpose a white background and then it becomes a light source and flares around the image.
