I hope you do indeed give it a try, the light play of underwater portraiture is always a surprise and very VERY interesting to work with.

I did use a strobe on some of these both above and beneath the water... the experiment will continue.  I took down the Nikon D700 with the SB-800 attached in the housing...   have several more shoots lines up so I will keep posting.

I appreciate the comments!

I also want to use surface light, so all photos will be in less than 32 feet of water...

Unusual technique helps the impact in this image.  Serendipity--an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident--appears to be working for you--although the more of this you do the less accident and more on purpose there will be.  Still, a big part of the fun of doing this has to be the thrill of the unknown.  The metalic quality of the light speculars gives the illusion of an alien being arriving in front of your camera.  Nice complimentary colors, the magenta & green, playing off each other.  Her expression is appropriate for the feel of the composition (a big cheesy smile would kill this image).  Nice job!

A fascinating and mysterious image. Excellent composition and color. The expression on the woman's face is very intriguing. It can be interpreted so many different ways: a hint of a smile, a touch of wonder, puzzlement, longing, expectation, poignancy, not jaded but worldly wise. It is the kind of face that draws you in and holds you. I am sure that there was a good reason for carving out of the lower portion of the photo. It frames the face well,  but if there are no technical problems with that area, I think that including it would be an improvement.  Congratulations. Hugh
