If you saw my image 'And the Beat Goes On' of two Grasshoppers in

the throws of 'Summer Bliss', this image is of the Male as he sat

within the Geranium Blossoms in the 'After Glow' - just 'After the

Lovin'. The expression on his poor face was one that appeared to be

SO FORLORN. Once the act was complete the female just hopped

out of there as fast as she could. He hung around and kept me

company for about an hour. I can't stand it! He must have felt so

USED!!! then tossed aside like an old rag. I continued to take images

of him after he hopped out of the Garden Basket and onto my front

porch. I sang him a few bars, 'So I'll sing you to sleep, after the lovin',

with a song I just wrote yesterday.......he stayed, my voice couldn't

have been too scary. Ahh, Love and Passion, we cannot do without

either, in our world and it seems in the Insect World as well! (always

enjoy hearing your comments, many thanks for stopping by, ;-) Gail)

This is the original image, I just added a few layers for the background. I erased any layer off the Grasshopper, there remains a wee bit on his Antennae, other than that what you see of his body is 'clean'.

I don't think he looks very disappointed  ;), but he does look cute (omg and I really don't even like grasshoppers...). Lovely image, very nicely processed, with rich and warm colors. Loving it!

The texture in this image gives it a lot of "character", for lack of a better word.  Great macro work - I can see every detail in this little dude's face.

My best,

Great, Gail, a valentines card for grasshoppers. Love your choices here, both the close up point of view and the post production. Really original work. You continue to surprise us and possibily yourself (which is the most important thing. What would life be without its fresh realizations?)

Hi Gail, I like the themes you have going from image to image and invoking songs we all know and love, and thereby giving a hint our ages. Anyway I like the texture and PP in this image in particular as it has a rough edge to the borders yet nice and sharp as you go towards the center. Very nice work.

Best Always,

Holger

I'm guessing he must have had cramp! ........Otherwise he'd be like any other male.......snoring!  And it would explain the face too! : - )  He was probably just settling down for a nap when you started warbling lolol   I don't know what section you posted this one under Gail, but with your narrative it should have definately been humour ......its had me creased with laughter!

Love it!

Best Regards

Poor, poor, used and and abused.... :(

He has a great face, which you captured beautifully!  I love that he sort of emerges from a heart.  I like the framing too.

An excellent capture of this forlorn character, nicely framed by the flora, Gail! Us males have it so difficult sometimes - I can really sympathize with the poor fellow ;-) I like the title too! One of my favorite jazz tunes.

All the best,
Neil

Yes, it is one of my favorite tunes also. I have a few favorite artists who have sang it over the years.  Thanks for visiting Neil, sharing your thoughts and commenting on 'male insecurities' among the Species! I've found if you stay in the garden long enough, you begin to wonder how creatures think! And it becomes quite comical to compare them to us humans. Just have to say I LOVED your latest composition. Mt. Kidd has probably never appeared more 'Glorious'!!!

Thanks for the chuckle! He does look as if he is emerging from a 'heart'. Unfortunately for me, my daughter was talking to me this evening and talking about my images. I won't mention what it appeared the Grasshopper was emerging from as she viewed it on the small screen of her PHONE !!! I think she mainly called to ask me about that 'poor Grasshopper'!!!!

CREASED WITH LAUGHTER !!!  I love it!! I have never heard that expression and it is going in the Journal!!! When I think of it, it is a wonderful 'expression' that does sound British!  I think I will take your advice and I shall name my grasshopper Norman. As I write this he is staring right at me, and to think that that brazen 'hussy' Conchita! - blew him off, right after  pledging her 'love' to him'. What is the world coming to???? Laughter, it sure is a great 'medium'. Cures many ills. I am about due to have one of those where you fall on the floor and you just can't 'stop laughing'. Sure clears the cobwebs!!! Take care Alf, drop by anytime!!!

What a lovely comment Holger. Have missed you, I do hope you have been enjoying the officail last week of what we calll summer. I hear it is to be warmer this September than normal. Glad you are enjoying my images. Not really any plan re the Titles, I guess I must have the 'music' in the back of my mind for some reason. Cheers to you Holger and many thanks for your support.

You are so right. It is like having a Vitamin B12 shot (creatively). This may not be your typical 'Insect' shot, but there has to be other ways to display these images as well to make them more interesting. Thankyou for the kind compliment Jack, truly is appreciated.
