Partially bloomed.

I'm still trying to get across the bigness of the corpse flower. Compared to my previousattempt, does this framing help at all? I've tried capturing theentire thing, but that really looks like a macro shot of a regularflower instead of a regular shot of a macro flower.

The only lens I have to work with is the 50 for now, which has notbothered me in the past, but I wish the 20 I have on order wouldarrive so that I could try a near-far and give this bigness andcontext. Any ideas of working this with the 50 would be appreciated,keeping in mind that I can not 1) get closer or 2) get higher for atop-down perspective.

BTW, thanks in advance for ratings, but I am really wondering moreabout the framing/perspective rather than anything else.

The Washington Post images show the size by including people in the shot, both near and far. I had hoped to get down there (with a tripods?) and do some abstracts in the area just below where you cropped.

Is that a flower?
