audrey lee reid 0 Posted July 21, 2003 The nearest rivers are the main source of water supply to many villages in this part of the world. I watched this young lady clothes in her 'sunday best', collecting water from the river, then pushing the heavy barrow homeward along the very bumpy track, water spilling along the way..... cristian_tataru 0 Posted July 21, 2003 The wheels are modern, the situation is from Midle Age. Beautiful picture, perfect light, nice crop. Link to comment
adomavicius 0 Posted July 21, 2003 An off center composition would have worked better here. Link to comment
mike_sea 0 Posted July 21, 2003 Hi Audrey, You have the basis of a great shot here for my eye. Some cropping would have helped my tastes, to me there is too much 'nothing' above the woman. As for the exposure you have used, couldn't be better, lots of detail where it counts!!!! In many ways this is the brilliance of your image in my mind. by cropping and honing in on her facial expression, I feel we would get more of an idea on the person. If I can be really picky without being there...it looks like a few paces to your left MIGHT have given you an angle that didn't have those two big attention sapping trunks in shot. I can't really say for sure though. Great shot Mike Sea Link to comment
audrey lee reid 0 Posted July 21, 2003 Richard, Cristian, aurimas and Mike for your kind feed backs. Aurimas & Mike, I clicked the one shot as soon as I saw her, thereafter, she went to the river's edge sat and rested!Mike, I didn't think of cropping more of the tree-top till you mentioned it. You are absolutely right there. Thank you very much. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted July 21, 2003 Excellent PJ shot. The light seems a bit harsh, sorry to say. Did you sharpen it? I am not sure if that is what I am seeing, but I think that might be what is causing the pixels to look a bit squarish and like dots. ummmmmm, maybe just me. keep smilin' Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 26, 2003 Definitely nice work Audrey. It is a shame that you didn't have the opportunity to play a bit more with the subject because I think Mike's points are good ones. Of course its all with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, but some other angles might have given some more energy to the image. Don't get me wrong, though, there's LOADS to like about it. Its got great details and color and I do like the sense of hard labor you see in the woman, based on her face. Is this western China, because the woman seems almost Siberian in her looks? Or am I just nuts? I like it. Nice work. Link to comment
