Mark,

Looks like we are both probably "chasing," or at least photographing the same thing again, like earlier in the Spring when we were after the Gooslings!

I'm chasing some mature Bucks, or "scouting" for some anyway, and couldn't pass up a chance this morning to also shoot a White Tail Fawn.

Although I admit, mine is not nearly as interesting as yours here! . . . Very nice!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Joao, was a lucky catch, but would you believe I got two good shots like this.  If you look two photos to the left of this in the gallery the same buck doing this with another fawn.

Jim, yes we were, I was looking at your shot and I got several the same day that look very similar to yours, could have almost been from the same roll of digital film. lol

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out the shot and commenting.

Hi Mark...very tender, special moment! Crop the upper part of your frame (till the very edge of the graas)...it will boost your image. Regards, Teo.

Yes Mark I took a look on it...this young animal is really sweet!! I also took a look on your portfolio: very nice and remembers me not only the USA (I've been there several times both working and for tourism) but also the good music scene...I was a amateur musician too (saxophonist, classic and jazz). Take care!

Very nice "moment" here Mark! Looks like the lighting conditions were difficult, but you did a very good job with it. Animal features, details and color are very nice!

Very cool, Joao. Love listening to good sax music. Just an awesome sound.

Phil, lighting was a bit of a challenge. Very bright sun in the open areas but the deer were under trees in the shade. A bit of working in the digital dark room getting the dynamic range improved. Fill flash was out of the question unless I only wanted to get one shot. The 580 EX II  would have done the job but would have spooked the deer. I have another shot taken here, similar, but I worked it a bit differently, a roof and gable of a distant building got very blown but with a bit of effort in PS, I got some interesting results. That shot is two or three photos to the left in this gallery.

Thanks for commenting everyone.
