Beautiful and mysterious Emmanuel. Lovely presentation as well. This composition reminds me of the beginning of a TV show, or it is a Movies Station, they have a similar rose, with cool lighting behind it like this. Very creative, well done!

Although it is advised not to put subjects in the middle, it works well for this image. I guess that is because of the stem leading to the subject. I like the lighting.

Well Done,

Ben

I did consider the placement, but you are right, the rose is not the sole subject of the image. It is really a study in light and movement. This was an overhanging branch I had driven by everyday on my way to pick up my son from daycare. I finally stopped to photograph it one time. I tried it in color, but ultimately decided I like the tones in black and white more. Thanks for the critique, and to everyone else, thanks for the time. I'll upload a colr version for comparison.

Not much can be added to the great comments of other PN members. It is a subtle and artistic image. I have looked at other images of your portfolio and all are really great. Your handling of BW is superb.

emmanuel,

have came and had a look at this image several times.  a image i like very much.  i know you use borders quite a bit in your work,  but for me this one works so well border less.  your white is so bright that it stands out and your always aware of its presence regardless of how you view image. i know this is a personal preference thing,  but for me the sky in b/g takes on a whole new meaning with the border removed.  it becomes vast and mysterious,  lots for the imagination.  where as the border defines the scene and reduces the magic of the image.  this is of course just all my opinion which in the grand scheme of things is pretty irrelevant.  like your work either way!

Good Morning Emmanuel, Much has been written, and well deserved, about this superb B&W image. I think your handling of it is first rate. The light is subtle and just enough for us to see the lovely flower. Very nice work.

Best,

Holger
