WJT 619 Posted July 29, 2003 An excellent photograph. The paucity of interest in this one is inexplicable. I like the solid diagonal of firmanent juxtaposed with the roaring falls; it is quite a contrast of elements. The tree is the binding tie. Perhaps a touch wider crop on top. But good job! Regards. kslonaker 0 Posted July 30, 2003 Hard to capture the power of these falls and how amazing it is that this tree manages to survive in the rocks. Link to comment
beepy 0 Posted July 30, 2003 So maybe I misrated... I was also struck by the strong diagonal - but tree seems "high" in frame. That said, the picture did strike me immediately when it popped up - "wild" leapt to mind. Hmmm... Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 30, 2003 And here I am stuck in the Southeast. What I like about this is the contrast between the rock sustaining the tree versus the massive flow of water on the right. I say, "Hang in there, tree." Link to comment
rajeevthomas 1 Posted July 30, 2003 I always wanted to take an image like this....great work!! Link to comment
mbevel 0 Posted July 30, 2003 Although the title emphasizes the tree, I think the greatest irony of this shot is that the fragility and bareness of the tree stands in stark contrast to the awesome power of the falls and solidity of the rocks...Great photo Link to comment
steven_cress 0 Posted September 15, 2003 It really captures the power of the water fall, but it might even be better if the tree were farther over to the left. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted September 15, 2003 If the tree were farther to the left, you wouldn't get the sense of the precarious spot it picked to grow. I wanted to show how amazing nature is. Thanks for the comments. Link to comment
bdouglas 0 Posted November 15, 2003 Very nice image. You have captured both the power and frailty of nature. My only wish would be that you had captured more of the tree. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 15, 2003 Bob, if you will look at my comment above yours, I had attached another view, with the whole tree. Thanks for your comments. Link to comment
dkatz02 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Great image, Very sharp contrast between the moving water and the static ground Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 19, 2003 Great shot. It is hard to capture the power of a big waterfall but you have succeeded. Link to comment
scott_j 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Nature's contrast. It a great capture. As for the comments on the cropping, after seeing the larger crop. This is the one, with possible some of the rock on the top right corner. this would be a great shot for you to digitally enhance. Regardless - Wonderful. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Thanks for visiting, Scott. You can only imagine what a rush it was to be standing right there (literally and figuratively!). Link to comment
dennismk 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I just love waterfalls and the fury of this one is amazing, well done. I think thats why I like them so much because they can run from total fury or very gental and pastorial. Like the sea... Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 15, 2005 Thanks for visiting, Dennis. I hope to get a chance to reshoot this one on our next trip to Canada in March. Link to comment
