I think the concept behind this image is excellent; the lop-sided perspective helps to create more interest definitely taking away any idea that this is just a photo of burst pipe.  But I have a couple of interesting observations if I may, obviously too late to change, but here goes, I would have tried to remove the green stone as it distracts, plus did you try removing the top brick and take a shot from a very low level?  Also did you find the paper bag?  Or was it there already.  I just feel that a less colourful bag might have contributed to an even balance between the action and the vulnerability, as it is the paper bag I feel is too strong in this story of yours.  Reds and yellows can be too much in your face unless you really want to emphasize them.  All in all a nice addition to a three or four picture story within the same context of self portrayal, - without words, I hate words sometimes, it is so hard to resist telling the viewer what you want them to see, we have this urge to be understood, but in photography of this genre (documentary style) the absence of a description can ironically lead to the viewer sympathizing or understanding your point much deeper, while having the wonderful advantage of allowing the viewer to impress his or her own feelings onto the interpretation and still being one with yours.

thank you Chris for your well considered response. Most helpful! And much appreciated. Everything was there as is, I just walked around the 'scene' and took shots from different angles. Im glad you mentioned the green at the bottom. In fact, I enhanced the green a little in order to tie up with another photo to form part of a group. The bright piece of paper I actually desaturated somewhat. Your comment is sending me back to the drawing board :-)
