Very cool.

At first glace I thought it was a shot of an old organ ... stops etc.  gotta lay off of the cheap stuff.

Nope, simply a bench built into the boardwalk for us old gofers who can't do the whole length at one time.  Perfect place for a nip of the cheap stuff.  :-)  Best, LM.

Hi Len, nice patterns, but for some reason I'm curious to see it in color!

Pulled out my trusty A610 this week and it felt like a brand new toy. Plan to use it for some time-lapse photos with CHDK.

"Curiosity killed the cat, satisfaction brought him back"!  Here's the original whole frame in colour.  Not too impressive in my opinion, thus the crop and conversion.  I hope you have fun rediscovering your trusty P&S.  Thanks for your input.  Best, LM.

Thanks for posting that, Len. I guess it's the harsh sun creating too much contrast. Can see why you cropped it this way though.

Great interplay of light and shadow, and with the added bonus of some nice timber grain too.  It is just rescued from being completely abstract by the grasses and vegetation beyond, and out of curiosity I played about with cropping the top portion. I quite liked the result as I was left with something resembling a piano keyboard, but I think your crop is superior.  Very well observed Len, I like this a lot!

Best Regards

A subject of opportunity, it was one of those scenes that I recognized had some artistic value but hadn't the time (it was 90+F and I was desperate for some shade) to contemplate the best crop on site.  It was only when passing it through photoshop that I settled on the crop that should have been made in camera.  An abstract to be sure but there's a place for them in my portfolio.  One could make it even more abstract by increasing the contrast severely.  Good of you to take an interest in this one.  Thanks.  Best, LM.

Immediately it was music to my eyes. The foot pedals of a church organ?  The internals of a piano? The white rectangular shapes in the shadow area were different sizes and represented hollerith code which would produce the music.  I would 'score' this highly.

All the very best

The beautiful thing about an abstract is that there is something in it for everyone.  Just let your imagination go wild!  Thanks for your thoughts.  Best, LM.

As with this element, sometimes subjects simply fall into your lap. The trick is to recognize, on some level,  that it's worth photographing. Luck is good.  Thanks for your participation.  Best, LM.

Very well seen and nicely composed. Many a times such bilaterally symmetrical compositions work excellently and this is one of them. The left upper corner "compartment" is darker than the other two. Could be dealt with in post.

Thanks for your observations.  If I ever decide to print this one I'll keep your suggestion to photoshop the  upper left 'compartment' in mind.  It would improve the symmetry.  Gotta love this site.  Best, LM.

Thanks for the validation, or should I say Vladidation? :-)  Yah, some subjects seem to fall into our laps, especially if we have a constant eye out looking for them.  This one paid big dividends for the effort expended.  Best, LM.

A piano in the garden made out of shadows. requires an artist like you to do this! Wonderfully executed and great idea.I too share Apurva's reservations. compliments -koushik

Good to have your input.  Sometimes it's worth taking the shot even if you can't make it work at the time.  A little post processing goes a long way. (in this case some cropping and conversion to B&W)  Best, LM.
