One of my friends expressed his opinion,"Are you crazy, you old

goat, you are 71 years old. My reply can not be recorded here, I

understand there are some gentle souls in photography. What is it about

the Chilkoot Trail that draws hikers from around the world. At no time

or place in recorded history did so many people subject themselves to

so much agony, misery & death & glory than these 20 to 30 thousand who

crossed the Chilkoot Pass on their way to the Klondike goldfields in

1897-98

Congratulations!  I have browsed through the series but  I will end my comments with this image.

You have my admiration for getting out there and doing it!  What a wonderful trail to explore, It would be "crazy" not to do it in my humble opinion.

Some lovely shots and the larger views are really well defined with lots of detail.  You have a tendency to place figures centrally on paths and trails, and I think its a natural thing to do, but the thirds rule is something to bear in mind when composing these types of shots.

It looked like you both enjoyed every minute, and just being there must have been a joy.   Very well done on all counts!

Best Regards

Hi Alf-thanks for taking the time to review my Chilkoot file, much appreciated. It only covers first day & we took 6 days to complete the trail.. Plan to start additional days next winter, will have to sharpen my skills using a scanner After resizing an image,I do all my processing in the large size, then saved in the Actual Pixels size which I think improves the image. Yes, we enjoyed the experience of backpacking the Chilkoot Trail. We met people from over the world in the designated camping spots. What we gained from our journey is best expressed a quote from one of our former Prime Ministers, Pierre Trudeau, an accomplished canoeist who challenged most of Canada's wilderness rivers. "Travel a thousand miles by train & you are a brute, pedal 500 miles on a bicycle & you remain a basically a bourgeois, paddle a hundred in a canoe & you are already a child of nature". I believe there is something satisfying in being alone on a remote trail & after a few days you also become a child of nature. You might be interested in my WP&YR file ( White Pass & Yukon Railroad) running from Skagway to Bennett Lake. It is forever linked to the Klondike Gold Rush as is the Chilkoot Trail. Also, if you like steam locomotives, you will enjoy the file Best Regards-Ross
