Adult Orchid Mantis Couple

Thought maybe these two would mate when I put them together last

night, but the much larger female just wanted to eat him. I saved

him just in the nick of time by placing a stick between them as her

raptor wrapped around it. I shot this while she was cleaning a

raptor and thought it was a good opportunity to place him next to her

for a photo. She got done cleaning and I took one more quick shot

and I hurried my hand between them. A second later and he would have

been a goner, I'm sure.
