GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 19, 2012 I love this one Chuck! Loooks like it was wet, but this lad was sure a happy boy. Even though the sun was shining right on him, I'm glad you took this capture. Nice timing. Link to comment
color 3 Posted July 19, 2012 It was not wet out there. I added the impression of wetness with my processing, mostly dodging in highlight mode. Glad you like the image BTW. Link to comment
color 3 Posted July 19, 2012 Thanks for your comment about the light. It was a challenge to take a usable photo in that situation. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 27, 2014 The light is so much more than usable. It's extremely expressive and relevant. Its relevance is that it goes both with the processing and the content. This photo is a total package. So often processing feels like an add-on or an afterthought, like something imposed onto the photo. Here, it just feels like a necessary part of it. Yes, it's strong and noticeable, and that may be part of why it's so effective. It's unabashed. The boy's gesture and body language / movement is great. It feels in the moment and yet has a geometry that makes it almost iconic. The way his fingers catch the light is icing on the cake. And the surprise, subtle creamy center is the girl sitting downstream on the curb. This is a high energy photo that shows a distinctive personality and vision. Link to comment
