Is this driftwood or perhaps a dead tree? I have to say that I am rather fascinated by what I am seeing. When a viewer feels that way you know that you have a successful image.

Thank you both; this is indeed a dead tree, washed up on the shore of an historic  shell mound in the Gulf of Mexico.

I really like this image.  From a color perspective this has a distinctly 'pewter' or 'bronzed' feel to it that is quite striking.  The composition is quite good as well.  I wonder if the comp might not have even been strengthened by including the top of the driftwood in the image (you might have lost too much of the sea-grasses though?).  Good eye to see this one, Gillie.  Good work!  Cheers!  Chris
