Grayham, outstanding piece of bird in action I have never seen it before, really impressive!     Best regards

These Pelicans are quite common in Western Australia, more so in wild, although we do have a few that inhabit the parkland lakes, and are people-wise.

I however prefer to shoot the wild ones.... far more action.

Thanks for your visit

Hi Grayham,

Very nice profile of the pelican with good lighting.  Wing position is great.  Really like the water trail!   The reflection is a very nice touch.  And I like the reeds, grasses and other natural features in the muted background.  Very enjoyable overall effect!

Hi Grayham, really do like this shot, the water trail really adds momentum to the Pelican's "lift off" Terrific composition and dof. Best regards Louise

Thanks for your comments........... as ungainly as pelicans are, they can get airbourne pretty quickly. The image (In Pelican file) was the first shot in this series yet I was only able to capture the second pelican taking off as the first one was up and away so fast (see the first water trail spanning the width of the image).

both images were worth the effort....... the stalking and waiting.

Thanks for stopping by.

Best regards

Thanks for stopping by........ I appreciate your comments. Yes, birds this size seem more at home on the water than in the air.

Best regards

That is why photography is so great - moments like this are not as impressive by looking at them in real life - such details are missed. Human eye is unable to notice that kind of splendid and powerful moments. Thanks for sharing! It is very original indeed!
