A little story behind this simple shot: While having lunch, I saw a fine

gentleman nearby, with this camera by his side. At first it looked like a

very old Leica. I took the photo. The curiosity was too much and I

approached this man who very kindly let me hold this wonderful piece of

optical machinery. It turned out to be one of the new range-finders (a very

expensive one!). We made good friends, and he turned out to be a very

well known artist (painter), and his hobby is photography. So, happy

beginning, happy ending. I will appreciate your comments or critiques of

this image. Thank you.

Thank you Richard for your observation, it is well taken. I thought about it (I'm not new to photography and of course these little details do matter), but decided against corping the white cloth, just to give it an extra context and contrast oposit the main subject (The Leica). Maybe needed, maybe not.  I have mande many comments on PN, specially on the subject of composition. When other photographers address composition and cropping issues in their critiques of other photos, I argue against those propositions, usually (not always) in defense of the photographer who took the shot. I prefer to think that there was a reason behind it (as in my case) than an oversight or lack of attention to detail. As I said, I value your comment and your kind attention for taking the time to view and write. Best regards.

Well Daniel, I thought about the other way to do, leaving the cloth and maybe have more from it.

Bottom line, it is a very well done picture with excellent contrast. (the kind of photo I aspire to be able to do :)
