My efforts at 'high key' photography seem to have aged my seven year

old granddaughter; they do grow up quickly, but this is ridiculous :)

Oh I don't know though, the innocence still shines through. I really love this high key effect, just the right touches of definition in the key places. Any clues as to how you achieved this effect would be appreciated.

Compliments!

Thank you both for your encouragement.

Alf, this picture was entirely the result of PP.  Effectively shooting indoors in high key is not easy if you don’t have the proper equipment (outdoors on a bright day can be easier and cheaper). In order to achieve that studio, white background look, ideally you’ll have some studio lighting on hand;   preferably 3-4 flashes: two on your subject, two on the backdrop. Also, make sure your camera’s settings are optimized to let in lots of light. Make sure there’s enough to brighten the scene considerably without blowing out the subject.  However, I have none of this equipment, and manipulated a photograph of my granddaughter by increasing the exposure in the RAW image in ACR; in CS6, I adjusted the highlights and shadows until I began to see the look I wanted and then increased this with the curves filter.  Then I went to Silver Efex and used one of their high key filters, adjusting the sliders to get what I wanted.  The last step was to make a mask of the child and put her on a new white layer.  I did add a blur vignette, which in retrospect and on the advice of others I removed in other postings - I need to learn that, usually, less is more!  Gillie
