This photo struck me because of the colors. I'm playing with a Tamron 28-

300mm on a full frame Canon because of the versatility it offers without

changing lenses. Light weight makes a good travel lens too. This close up

would not have been possible without it. I'm such a "L" lens addict I really had

to let go of a lot to give this a try.

Artistically well rendered! Wonderful colors and very good technical quality!

Best regards my friend!

What a great image. The bee is crystal clear. The flower is vibrant and beautiful and the bokeh is delightful. Overall a very pleasing image. Well done.

Nice image with all that colors around the flower. If the bee head up I think it would be even nicer but if they are anything like my birds, they don't listen well :-)

I run noise ninja on the background and that make it smoother also. TFS!

Tm J - Thanks!  That's the second time in 24 hours I've had "Noise Ninja" referred to me.  Guess I'd better take a look at it.

Hi Dom,

Yes, the colors are nice!  I have this lens too, hoping for a fairly good walk around tele. It is. Fairly good. The range is great, but I've found that it does best in strong light. Not so well if light not ideal. I was disappointed enough in it that I finally got a 70-200 f 2.8 and the difference is astounding. But, there are times when you want a wider view. Canon apparently doesn't make a 28-300 that's any better than the tamron. of course, the 1600 iso  adds some to the noise, but, I think the lens has something to do with it too.

Also your 5.6 made the front of the bloom oof.  I know you have other good lenses- do a comparison shoot sometime to see the difference. Tamron still handy, and I still use it just wish there were a higher quality one with that range.

Do you see much difference with the M3?

Hi Greg, thanks for the input.  I have the 70-200mm f2.8 and it's so fast compared with the Tamron.  But, while I want to visit the Rockies, my wife is thinking Italy and France.  With past back surgeries I have to limit weight so this is worth a try.  But it's slow.  I never would have caught the Hawk eating the bird, foot hanging out of it's mouth, with the Tamron.  No problem with the 70-200.

I like the Mark III.  I don't think the IQ is as good as the Mark II, but it's other qualities make the trade off worth it.  With 6 frames per second I don't need the Mark IV.  High ISO performance is excellent.  I like the lock on the function selector.  I even like the built in HDR.  Best of all is target acquisition.  It focuses so quickly it makes the Mark II seem really old and slow.  Again, with the increased shutter speed and rapid focus, I don't need one camera for landscape and another for surf and birds.

I also like the quiet soft shutter.  The rearrangement of buttons is nice too.  It's a great improvement.  But for flowers only, I don't think an upgrade would gain you anything.  Aloha.

Hi

Thanks for the input on the M3. That's what i kinda thought. The tamron will do fine for a trip - it also works well with flash- just needs lots of light.

Sorry to hear about your back. Have a good trip!
