robertbrown 1 Posted July 8, 2003 Comments, ratings, suggestions appreciated on b&w toned tree shot. Do you think toning works? Top of the photo is a little hot, but I still liked it. Thanks. Link to comment
jerrymat 4 Posted July 8, 2003 Highly successful composition. The toning is also beautiful. You might like to play with cropping a vertical picture out of this. I see several picture-within-a-picture possibilities. Link to comment
WJT 619 Posted July 8, 2003 I like this photograph. The composition is fine. The hot spot is indeed bright but I don't think it hurts the image. Regards. Link to comment
carol_watson 0 Posted July 8, 2003 Nice shot, Robert! You have nice clarity in the foliage and the tones are great. I don't mind the brightness at the top at all -- it's probably a truer representation of the actual lighting (versus toning it down as part of the post production process). Link to comment
kiran_pallapotu 0 Posted July 10, 2003 Excellent Capture! I have tried something similar recently... Link to comment
rjacksonphoto 0 Posted July 10, 2003 I think it's about perfect as is. The toning works well, the contrast is good, and light and dark are well-balanced. Accurately conveys the sense of emerging from the dark forest, perhaps into a small clearing. Link to comment

james_hill 0 Posted July 10, 2003 would like to see a border, my eye wanders a little towards the top of the frame Link to comment
will_moore1 0 Posted July 10, 2003 I've tried to get that lighting so many times... beautiful. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted July 10, 2003 Robert, you've done great justice to this beautiful spot. I particularly like the soft tones in the undergrowth contrasting with the strong dark verticals. Thanks for the inspiration to try harder. Link to comment
nancy_zhang1 0 Posted July 10, 2003 I like this! This picture has a certain aura... makes me wonder, what's beyond the bend? Link to comment
dkatz02 0 Posted October 1, 2003 The verticality of the trees is very well portrayed, as with the silhouette of the trees - nice job Link to comment
mountaineer1965 0 Posted November 23, 2003 I think everything about this picture works. I love the toning. Well done Link to comment
arup 0 Posted March 31, 2005 Lovely pic. but a human element in the composition would have made this photo more appealing. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted April 1, 2005 Arup, thanks for your comment. I've actually got a photo of my twins on this trail, but their faces are a little dark. I tend to only shoot natural light, but it might be a good idea to try this one with a little fill flash. Link to comment
