Click to see larger image. I don't usually work in color, but this cries out

for it. Comments appreciated

Well done! I am wondering how tall these plants were. Horsetail has beneficial uses in bio-dynamic farming.

Thanks Ruud. These are common in wetlands in the western US (maybe the east as well, I don't know). I had spent most of the day across the street just south of Big Sur on the California coast watching whales and enjoying the surf. I spotted these in a swampy area close to my camp on the way back from the beach.  As I mentioned above they are not very tall. I had my tripod down low and in the mud. I keep shooting until I got the depth of field and composition I thought I could work with.

I forgot to mention. Just for fun, I tried a bit of Ortin Effect and really liked the dreamy quality it gave the image.

They definitely have them in swampy areas back east... it was my favorite plant as a kid growing up in NJ.  I have some in my yard now but for some reason the domestic versions are just stalks, they don't get the frilly layers.
