Dewi is a Sumatran orang-utan born 06/12/2010.

The population of Sumatran and Bornean orang-utans is on the decline.

The status of these sub-species of orang-utan are currently described

as Critically Endangered.

thanks for your thoughts

Good Morning, This is a wonderful animal portrait. It has a sadness to it beyond the written information you stated. Excellent and emotional capture. 7.

Sincerely,

Holger

Thank you everyone for your visit and comments. They're much appreciated.

Although Dewi is quite young she shows signs of intelligence, awareness and understanding much like human infants do. It would be a real tragedy to lose these magnificent creatures from the wild!

There is something so 'human' about them Art. At least in the sense that Dewi reminds me of a Toddler, intent on whatever she is playing with. A serene gentleness about her. Your processing furthers this 'emotion', lovely work with 'light', as if she were 'kissed' softly from up above. Thankyou for your continued 'zeal' for these creatures. Each image enriches us with their plight.

Sincere regards, Gail

Very nice, but maybe not as strong as your 3 other previous pictures. The light and post processing are as good as the others, but the profile doesn't really work for me.

Although it is probably not easy to give instructions how to pose :-)
