June 12th started out being a stormy morning. We had received a

much needed rain during the middle of a very hot and humid spell.

Although it was still very windy out, I decided to try to capture what I

could. Fortunately for me I have some nieghbors who have lovely

flowers in their front gardens. This is the day I also took the images

of the Poppy with the Bee and the one with the 'Hoverfly'. All the

flowers were being tossed about, but Alf Bailey had told me a very

handy tip - while bright out, and if everything or just 'ants etc.' are

moving about, I could take my Exposre Compensation down a few

notches, resulting in a Sharper Image. If it hadn't been for Alf, I am

not sure my images would have turned out very well at all. My

neighbor Grace has some of the most lovely Roses out front. These

ones are among my favorite. So delicate and fragrant. The storm had

damaged a few petals, and they were still quite soaked from

the 'onslaught' they suffered just a few hours earlier. It made me

think of 'ourselves' and how we 'survive' our 'Storms in Life'.

Our 'edges' may get a bit bruised and not always repairable, yet in

time after we've managed to 'dry ourselves off', we do our best to

face yet another day, looking up towards the sunlight and not the

sidewalk. Nature is a wonderful source of knowledge when it comes

to survival - perhaps that is where that saying comes from 'Always

take time to 'Smell the Roses'. (your visits are very much

appreciated, most sincerely, Gail)

Beautiful shot with lovely colour tones & soft light. Your description & understanding of the image is certainly as nice as your image...it made me stop & ponder ! We often tend to overlook what nature tries to teach us but photographs & comments like these definitely makes people take notice.

Well done. My best regards.

I agree with Sagnik that you made me ponder. I wondered if there was some yet undiscovered chemical in those roses that would be useful in curing the incurable disease.  A lovely capture and I am hoping that Alf will pass on tips to me also.

Many thanks for your visit and comments. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were some 'magic' within a rose that could cure 'all' disease. I don't know if there would be enough 'roses' in all the world to accomplish this feat. But 'diseases' that tear out hearts apart, (there are so many of those) and cause such anguish to our souls, it would be wonderful. Perhaps the water droplets on the rose are tears that have been purified by the 'fire', left blamless here on earth, and no longer shed by our loved ones that have been through the 'worst of storms'. But are at Peace and no longer have need for tears. I would like to think so. I think our hearts would be released of many burdens if it were so. It is a long road to reach that place where we no longer feel a 'hole' in the fabric of our lives, and feel the assurance that 'they' no longer feel that pain, and the memory of it has only been alive in us. We are the 'watchers' who record their anguish and 'wear' it like a 'garment'. Hopefully the 'Season'  comes when we feel the 'weight' of it has been too much; slowly we come to realize that 'Springtime' has come once again in our ives, and we are able to move past the memories of the 'tears' and rejoice in all that was good and beautiful in those precious ones we miss so much.  We walk similar paths, but we are not alone. Thankyou for your visit Tony.

I am drawn to the composition of this flower image. The pink rose exudes delicateness, femininity and innocence. The purpose of rendering the background flower soft reflects subtleness that goes well with the lighting.

Beautiful photo, Gail. My sincere congratulations and warm regards.
