I have a capture of this kind of fly in this same folder - taken on the

same day. I had RESET my CAMERA SETTINGS back to Factory

Settings in order to START OVER from scratch. Unfortunately, I

changed everything but the ISO Setting. It did not requite to be set

so high, and in this particular shot I had set the Shutter Speed to

2000 ??? Clearly not thinking. While this is not in Super Focus, I

recall I was almost ready to give up taking any more shots. My arms

were sore from Handholding and I knew I was not obtaining as sharp

Focus as I'd hoped. But suddenly this Fly turned towards me, and it

was as if it was looking right at me. I took a few more images and

later when I reviewed them on the Computer, although I had messed

up with my ISO Settings, a few of the captures were still very

interesting. I'd never achieved capturing any detail at all in a Fly's

face before. Man they are UGLY, yet they continue to captivate me.

Perhaps that will be enough to encourage me not to 'give up'.

I realise many will say that the 'frame' is not necessary, and they are right. I just wanted to do something different with this one. There isn't much of the body in Focus, and the 'leg extended towards me, made me feel the Fly was 'coming in for a closer look - at me!  I often wonder what these 'bugs' think of us with our 'big lenses', if they think anything at all.

Ugly and all still fascinates me too. I feel this is a great image because of the originality in presentation. Beautiful colors and texture my friend. Warm regards.

The wonder of macro to me, is actually seeing what these small creatures look like, and in some cases, especially with spiders the incredible colours they are sporting.  This a super shot, and the 'out of frame' processing a clever way to take attention from the unfocussed body.  Isn't it lucky that some of these creatures are not as big as we portray them :)

Very creative.  The framing effect adds to the dimensional feel and makes this truly an extraordinary image.  Great work, Gail.

Great macro Gail.  I think the frame works well on this because it looks like an action shot.  The bug is coming right off of the page!  Greta effect!

Great sharp shot of the "univited one" stepping out of the photo and into MY HOUSE to annoy the devil out of me!! Just great!!!

You caught my 'drift' spot on!!!! There are some very necessary insects in this universe but I usually don't like many of them very close to me, must be a 'girly thing', or perhaps I recall little pranks by my brothers when I was younger!!!  I almost didn't even work on this image as I figured I hadn't achieved capturing much of the body, but when I opened it in Photoshop, there was something about THAT  FACE and POSTURE. Glad to hear you enjoyed it Warren. Hope you have been getting in some quality SAILING time. Enjoy our summer white you can!!! Thanks so much for your support, Gail

I thought I'd try having the 'fly' stepping out of the frame and it worked pretty well. I know I could do even better with a bit more practice. Thankyou for your enthusiastic comments and encouragement, sincerely,Gail

I really appreciate your visits Art. Your work is such an 'inspiration' and although I am not even 'close' to the level of expertise you have achieved, it gives me the 'desire' to take my images to a 'step farther'. Not just content with an image of a bug. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and I thank you for your support and time taken to comment. I know how busy you are. Sincere appreciation, Gail
