Nuttall's Woodpecker

The perch was empty and I set the exposure to avoid clipping on the

pine cones, which can look nasty when exposed to the right. I was

expecting finches or mockingbirds and was surprised as heck when

this one showed up! Thanks for comments, critiques as always.

Surprises like this are always fantastic.  Can I suggest maybe a two flash system, one to get the bird and one to get the background?  It would make your images really pop out.
