The picture is flat, grey and therefore fails it´s intention. Just add some more contrast in ps and it will improve! DOF is according to the f-stop you used well chosen!

Yep. I was working with a 400 mm prime so couldn't zoom out. I was working towards getting a "head shot", but (s)he chickened out once I got closer than this.
