In the late spring season hundreds of flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber)

start all togheter to make their nests with the mug in the shore of

the laguna of Cagliari. From the ill in front of the laguna we have

the lucky to follow the evolution of the reproduction of these

fantastic birds. Please view larger

Awe inspiring photo Giangiorgio.   It looks more like thousands rather than hundreds.  It must be quite a sight to see these blast off all at once.  Should be on the cover of National Geographic.


I find myself wondering exactly where this is.  Africa, S. America?

The photo was taken in Cagliari the principal town of Sardinia Island in the Mediterranean sea, You ca see it in Google maps,  ciao Giangiorgio

Amazing to see this many birds in one location.  Good work on shooting this scene from a hill to get this point of view.  I like it.
