Although somewhat iconic and touristy, Milford Sound resounds

with a sense of grandeur and is a wake-up call to our insignificance

in the scope of nature. As always, I appreciate your taking the time

to offer your comments. Thanks. Larry

It's a beautiful scene, Larry. The mountains appear to me to be shouldering the weight of the world, holding up those heavy clouds. Terrific point of view.

I see one potential problem area - two or more perfectly round circles in the clouds over the mountain to the right. Clone stamping? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Or ignore me :)

And if you post-process, I might suggest using an Auto Tone or other feature to remove a slight color cast, especially in those beautiful clouds. I might even play with Curves to do a bit of brightening.

Lovely.

Cheers ~

Alberta,

Thanks for your astute comments.  Actually, I did not do any processing on the sky here, no cloning - but, you are right; it sure looks like it from those circles made by nature.  I use ACR and curves as necessary to eliminate color cast.  I think I settled for adjusting the white balance on this one, judging the color with the green in the mountain on left.  Perhaps, I'll copy the image and experiment with curves too.  I kind of like the warmish glow in the sky.   I appreciate your visiting my portfolio and making your comments.  Best to you.  Larry

Efim,

First, I apologize for misspelling your name in my other response to your comment.  Thanks for your kind remarks.  This image is hand held, taken from a moving boat.  I will look at your portfolio as well.  Best to you.  Larry

Purely by chance, I had just uploaded a shot of Milford Sound when I spotted this one. Mine is an archive shot which I had just scanned in to my computer. the viewpoint is totally different, but with Milford you really can't go wrong. It truly is a magnificent place to visit. I do like your shot very much by the way!

Nice view and beautiful light!

The "circles" in the sky are probably from water dropplets on the front glass.

Best regards, Alex

Alex,

The water droplet idea is new to me - thanks for the insight.  I don't know if water was on the lens or not, being on a moving boat it could have well been the case even though I kept cleaning off the lens.  It actually looks interesting to me.  Thanks.   Larry
