Thanks for viewing/comments! I have to put up some harsh remark from

some so called San Joaquin Wildlife Sancturary 30 years board member (a

woman) to get this type of shot. I was told "this place is not for

photograher". Go figure!

This is amazing. The foreground, the composition, the backdrop, the timing -  everything wonderful. An artistic presentation. You've proved that the place is indeed for brilliant photographers.  Best rating...Best regards.

Thank you Folks! It make it all worth while to put up with narrow-minded people at SJWS, Irvine. I don't mind to get up early or stay late, laying on the muddy ground and get bitten by ants and bugs at places where lots of people have been to and shoot but it's tough having to put up with intrusive people who claims all right to loving bird (but not people, I believe). They seems to tell me all the rule but I don't see no sign anywhere that stated what they keep telling me. I hope those people have eyes problem when the see these birdshot! :-)

I would like these uggly people to put a sign that stated " This place is not for photographer" as the lady had told me so I can have a good laugh. Sometimes, people never really hear what they say, I think. Oh well, birds are every where and I will only go to this place for a particular type of shot (like this) now that it clear to me they are very hostile to people who shoot bird (with a camera, of course).

Fantastic bg. Great pose of the chick, extra legs a plus, now if mom would just cooperate and turn her head to the right a bit.

- Thank you Folks!

-  Monte, if you click the arrow on the right and see shot number one, the mother and chick do face toward the lens better, I think.

- Charles, I've seen those 'general' rule but to me that is a given rule when you enter any wildlife area. What I am refering to is that I've seen sign posted a few months back right at where I (and many other folks) stand and shoot, sign that said 'don't go any further'. So, the implication is that it is fine to stand there and shoot. Now, a few months later those sign got broken, some got stick in the bush by someone and these uggly and mean so-called board member keep telling photographers that they should not be at the same place. To me, if you don't want people at some place then place a chain there. Put a permanent sign there rather than having rule recited by some yahoos to tell people some imaginable lines that does not exist and change with different interpretation. I've seen kids throw boulder in the pond, people trampple certain areas and I don't see anybody tell them anything. However, I've been yelled at a few times on Sunday morning by these yahoos. So, in conclusion I would say if you have to shoot here then don't come on Sunday morning, especially around 8AM when these yahoos make their tour with a bunch of people and have a need to show off their mean/rude ability. Since I got enough shots for this series, I am going back to Newport backbay for Skimmer :-)

Ya, I see, and I think I like that one, although maybe chick posing a little better in this one.  Very nice series.

Tm J,

Fitting title, . . . You've gotten this little guy into trouble, Ballet, . . . and now he's dreaming of some peace & quite I expect! ha!

They have been a wonderful opportunity as the subject of some of your most recent work and I extend my many thanks for sharing!

Regards always, . . . although a little envious!

Tm, you're a man-beast! I'll go along next time, and we'll give um hell. I totally agree with you on all that BS about respecting wildlife. There is nobody that would protect and respect wildlife more than US! And it's shots like this that help other people realize it too. We aren't destroying anything, if anything I put up trash from the other idiots.

Anyways (Don't get me started!), what a wall hanger! Well done my friend. You probably said it, but where we're you? You can PM me about it if you don't want it public. Thanks.

Thank you Folks!

Kenneth, not sure what you are asking :-) - If you mean where I located then I live in Irvine, California. I once work/spent a year in York, PA (a stone throw from Hanover, PA where you live) and work a company that is now BAE System (they make amor track vehicle ... aka Tank).  I am very supprise that you got so many bird there since when I was there many years ago I was not interested in bird and never notice.  Happy shooting Kenneth!

Holy cow TM! I know a guy that worked there for a while, and as I am a outside salesman for an HVAC company, I've sold them some things. Right in York I found a park with a man made reservoir that is a know nesting grounds for Egrets, Night Herons, and Green Herons. I never knew until recent, but a few trips there have yielded me numerous shots in my portfolio. Anyways small world my friend.
