Lovely scene giving a faintly painterly impression. I like the way you have captured the stark bare branches of the tree against the brighter part of the sky, and the foreground posts which add an air of abandonment and desolation. Maybe consider cropping a small amount on the left just eliminating the first post, which would have the effect of pullling the house a bit more off centre? Very well done! I like it.

Best Regards

Alf

Hi Alf-Thanks for your always welcome comments. I do appreciate the time you take to leave your comments.. I agree removing the post improves the image as you suggested.I also find that for some reason when I open the image my eyes are drawn to the old abandoned home & then immediately focus on the left hand post. Do not know if this is because the post flows out of the image, but, without this post my eyes stay focused on the main parts of the image Best Regards-Ross.

Ross,   Excellent image with an eerie mood.  I ditto Alf's remarks and wonder if this is an HDR?  What is the yellow object in the window of the house?  Is this a distraction? Make no mistake, this is a first rate image.  Larry

Hi Larry- Thanks for visiting & taking the time to leave your comments. I referred back to the original Rawi mage & the yellow object appears to be an old weathered sheet, it's not a blind as it has folds in the sheet. No, it is not an HDR image, actually, I have no idea how to even create an HDR image Basically, processing is mostly done in the raw mode using Elements 10 . My goal is a very realistic image & I think , perhaps I have gone a tad too far with the clouds.. Thanks again for your comments. Best Regards-Ross

Ross, I have to admit I was initially drawn in by the title, and my immediate reaction was that you've captured the spirit of the photograph very well by your chosen title (for me, at least).  I also thought this might be an HDR photo, in that you have very good light and detail on the side that would seem to have less illumination.  I was going to compliment you on your great HDR technique, but since I can't do that, I will say your goal of creating a realistic image has been admirably achieved.  I think the sky works very well here -- it provides a good background for some of the other elements, and it's not a monotone gray that would have much less interest.  Nice work.
