Matthew Brennan 3 Posted June 2, 2012 I like the clarity to the light in this exposure. Any crits / comments welcomed. Link to comment
griffis 0 Posted June 2, 2012 This is very nice work, I would happily hang this on my wall and feel I could look at it over a long time without getting tired of it. Sorry no constructive criticism at this time, I'm wondering though how far out did you set the focus? The focus is very well balanced, the dof for f14 looks fantastic. Link to comment
morajiero 0 Posted June 2, 2012 Is this a bracketed HDR ? If it is, I love how you manage to keep it natural, not exagerated, just the way it was. If it's not HDR, even more respect for managing to keep the sky AND the bridge the same exposure ! Link to comment
rconey 296 Posted June 2, 2012 Excellent use of a wide angle lens. Well framed and exposed. Very nice. Link to comment
Matthew Brennan 3 Posted June 3, 2012 Thank you all for your comments. I took a series of exposures squatting in this one spot. The focus on this exposure is set on the 3rd bolt hole (notched out square) on the tyre guard timber running up the right side of the frame, I moved the focus forward and back of this point, all at f/14 but this exposure had the best foreground focus coverage. I should have mentioned (now added into the image details) that i used the active D lighting function in camera which I find very useful to even out differences in potential high contrast frames like this one. This is a single exposure, with the near bow side of the ship colour dodged in PS as well as the side of the forklift and some illumination dogde on the closer mountain to match the cloud above it. These exposures were taken after a full day of heavy rain, the atmosphere was cleansed and colours were quite vibrant just after the last shower of rain. The jetty timbers were really only dry on the very surface, there was still water dripping from under the jetty timbers.... Link to comment
