Thanks to a fellow PN subscriber who recommended seeing Manapouri.

Most tourists seem to go to Te Anau, which is so touristy. Lake

Manapouri is pristine, rugged, and quiet. Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks for taking you time to visit and to offer your remarks. Larry

I like the subtle colour change in the layers that becomes more apparent in the larger view, and the colour gradation in the sky, a gorgeous sunset! The foreground is indeed rugged and rocky and adds interest to the image, I just wish the slight breeze wasn't present as the reflections would have been awesome. But I have to say this is my kind of landscape and location, and you have communicated the sense of peace and remoteness really well. Compliments  Larry!

Best Regards

Alf

Efim and Alf,   Thanks for your comments.  Yes, wouldn't it be nice if we could get nature to cooperate with us when we photograph.  This is why people recommend photographing locally, because you can go back and get it right when conditions are right.  Thanks for the compliments.  Larry

larry,  this is a lake i love very much.  was this on your way to doubtful sound? and if so did you go into the mountain and see the power station?  think shall enjoy your images of new zealand very much.  for such a small country we sure seem to pack in a lot of beautiful scenery.  where we live and fiordland being my favorite two places.

Rpoger,

We were actually going to Milford Sound.  We did an overnight cruise there that was fun.  We made the mistake of overnighting in Te Anau, which was way too touristy.  So, we drove to Lake Manapouri for dinner and photos.  The lake is wonderful, and the sand flies are killers.  More images to come.  Thanks for looking and commenting.  You are so fortunate to live in a county of such natural beauty.

Larry,  we with some friends leased a boat for 8 days and cruised all of fiordland, once you get away from milford sound there are very people period tourist or for that matter anyone.  milford has over 3500 visists per day in the season,  doubtful has maybe a 100 and the further south you go the numbers dwindle to nothing.  sand flies,  they are truly the pits.  we are so lucky as we have none here in ngaio bay.  did you visit the catlins?  if you come back i would suggest the winter as there are only minimal tourist,  and we also get a lot of settled weather in our winters. Keep these images rolling am so much enjoying them,  if you have any friends coming to this gorgeous country have them contact us and we can give them some ideas of where and where not to go.

Hi Matthew,  Pardon the delay in responding to your comment; we were out of town.  I too am glad we saw Manapouri.  I highly recommend it over Te Anau as a place to spend the night en route to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound for those really splurging on the cruise.   Matthew, do you live in New Zealand?  If so, where.  Thanks for looking at my NZ images - more will be posted.   Larry
