Famed combat photographer who later joined the fledgling Magnum Photo

Agency, Robert Capa, had a credo: 'If your photos are not good

enough, you're not close enough.' I've taken that credo to heart in

this and a prior posted photo. Your ratings, critiques and

observations are invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly, very

critically, or wish to make a remark, please submit a helpful and

constructive comment; please share your photographic knowledge to help

improve my photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john

The love of brothers! This is what came to mind when I saw this nice image. At first glance, the ressemblance starting with the creases at the eyes, the noses and the genuine smiles/laughter of these grown men seemingly reliving a moment of some distant youth which,to me,was as young brothers. The image is stunning as it makes you share the joy these guys are feeling;your timing on this one was dead on and everything else also to create an impressive image.Bravo!!!Top ratings and with your permission, this one is going into my favorites.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent

Merci Beaucoup.

You don't need my permission to put any photo in your favorites folder, but I do appreciate your telling me about it, especially with such enthusiasm.

There's really little to add to your description of what you see, feel and experience from this photo, so I'll just endorse your critique and suggest others read it.

A task yesterday and today was to choose up to my 80 all time best photos, a hard task with much competition, but this photo made the cut with no problems, though taken a week ago.

That's how I feel about it; our feelings are mutual.

Merci beaucoup, encore.

Thanks Efim

It's now my screen saver.

I don't think I can do better.

As noted above, when choosing my 80 lifetime best a day or so ago, though this was taken last week, this was a natural, no question.

(It had some real stiff competition, too.   You can see that if you parse through the 1,800 photos in my portfolio and just mark and peruse the really, really  good ones - some are standouts -- and this is now one of those. I live for the odd moments, unexpected almost always, when in brief fraction of a second, I get a capture like this.)

Sometimes it takes a week of looking and looking and then looking again for the timeless qualities to sink in as I evaluate initially.

This one was more easy to evaluate; it just insinuated itself into my body of work where it will stay, I think.

Thanks for the kind comment.

(Others of course may feel differently and not be embarrassed or pushed by me into feeling they must 'understand' or 'like' this photo -- it's not necessarily for everyone)

Closed shaved heads, thin bodies (no sign of fat) and physical closeness with great good humors.

If anyone has been to SE Asia and seen young Asian youths such as young Thai Buddhist monks in training, they are not serene at all times; they sometimes engage in spirited play.  After all, they are not 'religious' and reflective at all the time, they are humans - not Gods - and they have human wants and behaviors.

If the faces were Oriental, these men might easily be just like youthful monks at play in Thailand or other places in the Orient - for me a touch of universality in this photo, taken in Eastern Europe, recently.

Great close up with an amazing PP and contagious laughters! Thank you for sharing R. Capa motto because I really like close ups! Warm regards from Miami.

You never know when you're taking mundane photos when a 'top 50' lifetime best may occur suddenly.

That's what happened here, of course unexpectedly.

Thanks for your kind remark; it's a favorite of mine together with its near twin of the same guys plus two others, also with infectious laughter and brotherhood.

Pardon me for misspelling your first name in the comment next above -- the editing window was closed when I spotted it.  I know your name is important to you and also that it be spelled correctly.
