I have been photographing Dewi and her family unit at Melbourne Zoo

for over a year now. This image was taken approximately 1 year after

her birth. This is one of the first images of her becoming more and

more adventurous and independent of her mother.

Thanks for your thoughts

Great timing on your part Art. Fascinating and whimsical capture. Dewi sure is an 'entertainer'. Excellent detail, lighting and Crop. This shot would look great in a Magazine, Book Cover or actually just to have this capture framed, it would be a perfect gift to give someone who is 'so stressed out' they can bearly function. Dewie has a fantastic expression for anyone trying to put 'Life into Perspective' - why 'sweat' the small stuff?

Very nice work as I've come to enjoy and expect from any capture you post. All the best, Gail

Thank you my dear friends for your thoughts and support. Anabela your point is well taken and I too would have preferred a different setting. One benefit of showcasing these magnificent animals in captivity is it creates awareness of the plight of the Sumatran orang-utan and so in an ironic twist helps in their conservation where otherwise there may not be. Melbourne zoo has a successful captive breeding program that has helped ensure and promote the survival of the species. One again, thank you all
