rory daniel - singapore ph 0 Posted July 5, 2003 Florian, Before I comment on your photo, I'd like agree with the comments in your bio. Photo.net does seem to be full of pats-on-the-back for stuff that's pretty good, but not special. I use Photo.net to test images for my portfolio, and if an image isn't that great - I want to know about it!!!! And I certainly want to know why it doesn't work. So...to your feedback. This image caught my eye because of the composition and the unusual pose. I find taking pictures of people to be particularly challenging because I have difficulty coming up with interesting poses, so it's good to see what others do. Compositionally, it's good because the eye moves from the top-leftish corner to the right bottom corner (because of the angle of the tree). It's a pity the eye isn't lead to something of interest though - the shore doesn't hold that much for the viewer. I'm not sure what could have gone in this space though... The subject's upper body seems to be a little more softer than the rest of the image - was she moving?? Would have been better a little sharper. Maybe this image would have worked a little better if the frame were a little tighter on the subject. If you're not averse to changing things in Photoshop, I would remove the two branches in the top let-hand corner. I really like the backgound - nice and simple with nothing to catch the eye inappropriately. One last thing...the title suggests that it was a photoshoot - and not an event. Give it a little more mysterious or suggestive title to give the viewer a sense of what you were trying to portray. For what its worth... 6 for originalty due to unexpected pose. 5 for aethetics, because it's good, but not great. Link to comment

adrianhinojosa 0 Posted June 13, 2004 This is a very original pose but I wish it was either a full length shot that included her feet, or cropped in a square format starting just above her waist and to the top of her hands. I don't think my critique will mean very much however because you are clearly in a league well above mine. Link to comment
