As one of my favorite birds, it was a blast to shoot this guy, let alone

this shot. Almost all my shots are taken in the wild. This was a farmed

field in a State Park in PA. Thanks for your comments!

WOW!  What an awesome image.  Love the colors and b/g.  Buntings are one of my favorite birds, and I have had the opportunity to find painted buntings this year in Texas.

This is a beautiful image. Exposure and focus dead on. Lovely bokeh.  I like the bird off center, and think you could enhance the overall effect further by a strong crop--paring down the grasses below and to the right of the bird. Leave the strong branch angled to the bottom right as you have it---just tighten in on the bird.

The colour contrast is awesome, and I do like that diagonal stem on which the bird is perched coming from the bottom right corner. I dare say that the comments relating to cropping have good merit, however I'd just like to add that I enjoy the image as much for the view of the surrounding environment as for the bird itself, and for me one enhances the other.

Sincere Compliments

Bill, thanks... and I'm jealous! Corin, crop noted. I was afraid to go too tight because I was already at about 50%, But it's worth a shot. Thanks.

Kenneth,

Great contrasting colors between the Bunting and the background!

Well done!

What a beautiful bird, we have nothing like this in the UK unfortunately. The diagonal stem is a real plus to the image.

Great contrasting colors, a great crop, and an effective diagonal line leading right to your subject.

We have painted buntings where I live and while I have seen a male once or twice, I've never gotten a photo. I was excited to catch a female (green) once.

Thanks Hayward, for your nice comment. Man, painted male bunting are amazing. It's like they flew into a crayons box right as it exploded!
